How can a Foreign Occupational Therapist Qualify to come to the USA?
Occupational Therapist must have graduated a MOT Program that comparable to a US Master’s of Occupational Therapy Program.
OT Candidates must eventually pass the Toefl-iBT exam [required for a US Working Visa] with a min. overall score of 89 and a 26 on the English speaking portion of the exam. See following link for explanation about this critical part of the exam as well as attached TOEFL_Tips.pdf.
All Philippines and Indian MOT graduates MUST apply for the NBCOT examination by filling out the Master’s Comparability Application. Please follow application steps and fill out DeterminationOfMastersEquivalence_CategoryBform.pdf
Submit necessary documents from school and your documents to NBCOT along with a copy of your Academic Project and/or Research Paper. Wait 3-4 months for documents to be process.
Successful Occupational Therapist candidate applicants must be able to document the following:
Evidence of having conduct a serious academic research project or thesis.
Courses in Thermal, Mechanical, and Electrotherapeutic Modalities.
Courses in treating dysphagia
Courses or seminars in American OT Practice.
MOT graduates who have conducted 1) Research and 2) documented Clinical field work in their MOT programs may apply under Category A.
